FLOWERS OF MANCHESTER

One cold and bitter Thursday in Munich, Germany,
Eight great football stalwarts conceded victory,
Eight men will never play again who met destruction there,
The Flowers of English football, the Flowers of Manchester.Matt Busby’s boys were flying, returning from Belgrade,
This great United family, all masters of their trade,
The pilot of the aircraft, the skipper Captain Thain,
Three times they tried to take off and twice turned back again. The third time down the runway disaster followed close,
There was slush upon that runway and the aircraft never rose,
It ploughed into the marshy ground, it broke, it overturned.
And eight of the team were killed as the blazing wreckage burned.

Roger Byrne and Tommy Taylor who were capped for England’s side.
And Ireland’s Billy Whelan and England’s Geoff Bent died,
Mark Jones and Eddie Colman, and David Pegg also,
They all lost their lives as it ploughed on through the snow.

Big Duncan he went too, with an injury to his brain,
And Ireland’s great Jack Blanchflower will never play again,
The great Matt Busby lay there, the father of this team
Three long months passed by before he saw his team again.

The trainer, coach and secretary, and a member of the crew,
Also eight sporting journalists who with United flew,
and one of them was Big Swifty, who we will ne’er forget,
the finest English ‘keeper that ever graced the net.

Oh, England’s finest football team its record truly great,
its proud successes mocked by a cruel turn of fate.
Eight men will never play again, who met destruction there,
the Flowers of English football, the Flowers of Manchester.

MUNICH AIR DISASTER 1958

Morrissey, fra Manchester-bandet The Smiths, med nydelig hyllest til The Busby Babes

We love them
We mourn for them
Unlucky boys of RedI wish I’d gone down
Gone down with them
To where Mother Nature makes their bedWe miss them
Every night we kiss them
Their faces fixed in our heads

I wish I’d gone down
Gone down with them
To where Mother Nature makes their bed

They can’t hurt you
Their style will never desert you
Because they’re all safely dead

I wish I’d gone down
Gone down with them
To where Mother Nature makes their bed

BERTIE MEE SAID TO MATT BUSBY…

En klassiker som igjen har bitt populær.

Bertie Mee said to Matt Busby,
have you heard of the North Bank Highbury,
No, said Matt, you’re a cockney twat,
we’re the Stretford Enders!

FOREVER AND A DAY

U-ni-ted are the Champ-ions,
Eu-ro-pe-an Champ-ions,
The Stretford End will sing this story,
Of United’s pride and glory,
Win the league and fight like fury,
Forever and a day.
‘Cos United are the Champions……

FOREVER AND EVER

Forever and Ever,
We’ll follow the boys,
Of Manchester United,
The Busby Babes,
For we made a promise,
To defend our faith,
In Manchester United,
The Busby Babes. We’ve all sworn allegiance,
To fight till we die,
To stand by United,
And the Red flag we fly,
There’ll be no surrender,
We’ll fight to the last,
To defeat all before us,
As we did in the past. For we’re Stretford Enders,
With United we grew,
To the famous Red Devils,
We’re loyal and true,
To part-time supporters,
We’ll never descend,
We’ll never forsake you,
We’ll be here to the end.

For we all remember,
That ’58 day,
And the plane that once stood on,
That Munich runway,
As it tried to take off,
For the third fatal time,
The immortal young babes were,
Cut down in their prime.

In the cold snow of Munich,
They laid down their lives,
But they live on forever,
In our hearts and our minds,
Their names are now legend,
For the whole world to see.
Why this club’s a religion,
Spelt M.U.F.C.

So bow down before them,
And lift up your eyes,
For Old Trafford’s glory,
Will always survive.

KARMA KARMA KARMA

Melodi: Karma Chameleon

Karma, Karma, Karma, Karma, Karma United Road,
United Road, United Road,
Karma, Karma, Karma, Karma, Karma United Road,
United Road, United Road.

Karma, Karma, Karma, Karma, Karma United Road,
And have a go, and have a go,
Karma, Karma, Karma, Karma, Karma United Road,
And have a go, and have a go…….

FROM THE BANKS OF THE RIVER IRWELL

From the banks of the River Irwell,
To the shores of Sicily,
We will fight, fight, fight for United,
‘Till we win the Football League,
To hell with Liverpool,
To hell with Man City (they’re shit!),
We will fight, fight, fight for United,
‘Till we win the Football League. From the terraces of the Stretford End,
To the Stadium of Light,
We will fight, fight, fight for United,
We’re the boys in Red and White,
To hell with Benfica,
To hell with Real Madrid (they’re shit),
We will fight, fight, fight for United,
‘Till we win the Football League.

I SEE THE STRETFORD END ARISING

Melodi: Bad Moon RisingI see the Stretford End arising,
I see there’s trouble on the way,
So don’t go out tonight,
Unless you’re Red and White,
I see there’s trouble on the way….

MANCHESTER UNITED CALYPSO

Now, football is a pleasant game,
Played in the sun, played in the rain,
And the team that gets me excited,
Is Manchester United.Manchester, Manchester United,
A bunch of bouncing Busby babes,
They deserve to be knighted. If ever they’re playing in your town,
You must get to that football ground,
Take a lesson, come to see,
Football taught by Matt Busby.

Manchester, Manchester United,
A bunch of bouncing Busby babes,
They deserve to be knighted.

They are the greatest team today,
If you don’t believe it go see them play,
The type of football, second to none,
‘Cos they’re at the top of Division One!

Manchester, Manchester United,
A bunch of bouncing Busby babes,
They deserve to be knighted.

It’s the greatest thrill that you’ve ever seen,
They are known as a soccer machine,
They are the best, there is no doubt,
So raise a cheer and give a shout.

Manchester, Manchester United,
A bunch of bouncing Busby babes,
They deserve to be knighted.

Down on Maine Road’s greasy pastures,
Play a load of dozy bastards,
Colin Bell, the City ace,
A ruptured duck has got more pace.

Manchester, Manchester United,
A bunch of bouncing Busby babes,
They deserve to be knighted.

PRIDE OF ALL EUROPE

En av de mest populære.

We are just one of those teams,
That you see now and then,
We often score six,
But we seldom score ten,
We beat ’em at home,
And we beat ’em away,
We kill any bastards,
That get in our way.We are the pride of all Europe,
The cock of the North,
We hate the Scousers,
And Cockneys of course (and Leeds),
We are United,
Without any doubt,
We are the Manchester boys.
Na na na, na na na na na,

Whatever will be, will be,
We’re going to Wembley,
Que sera, sera.Tell me ma, me ma,
To put the champagne on ice,
We’re going to Wembley twice,
Tell me ma, me ma.

ROME OR MANDALAY

If the Reds should play, in Rome or Mandalay,
We’ll be there, we’ll be there,
Yes, if the Reds should play, in Rome or Mandalay,
Tell the boys that we’ll be there. And we will fight, fight, fight with all our might,
We’ll be there, we’ll be there,
Yes we will fight, fight, fight with all our might
Tell the boys that we’ll be there. And we’ll be drunk, drunk, drunk as f*ckin skunks,
We’ll be there, we’ll be there,
Yes we’ll be drunk, drunk, drunk as f*ckin skunks,
Tell the boys that we’ll be there.

TAKE ME HOME

Synges på omtrent hver eneste hjemmekamp.

Take me home, United Road,
to the place, where I belong,
To Old Trafford, to see United,
take me home, United Road

THE FAMOUS MAN UNITED WENT TO ROME TO SEE THE POPE

Noen synes kanskje det er litt rart at United-fans synger «who the f*ck are Man United», men det er utrolig morsomt å stå på bortekamp og synge med når hjemmefansen starter den sangen. Mange forundrede ansiktsuttrykk å se da…

Melodi: Who the f*ck are Man UnitedThe famous Man United went to Rome to see the Pope,
The famous Man United went to Rome to see the Pope,
The famous Man United went to Rome to see the Pope,
And this is what he said…WHO THE F*CK ARE MAN UNITED,
WHO THE F*CK ARE MAN UNITED,
WHO THE F*CK ARE MAN UNITED,
AS THE REDS GO MARCHING ON, ON, ON!!!

THE RED FLAG

Moderne versjon:United’s flag is deepest red,
It covered all our Munich dead,
Before their limbs grew stiff and cold,
Their hearts blood dyed its every fold.So keep United’s banner high,
Beneath its shade we’ll live and die,
So keep the faith and never fear,
We’ll keep the red flag flying hereWe’ll never die, we’ll never die,
We’ll never die, we’ll never die,
We’ll keep the Red flag flying high,
‘Cos Man United will never die.

Original versjon:

Division One can kiss my arse,
We’re in Division Two at last,
We don’t mind and we don’t care,
We’ll keep the Red flag flying there.

We’ll never die, we’ll never die,
We’ll never die, we’ll never die,
We’ll keep the Red flag flying high,
‘Cos Man United will never die.

The City fans came out of school,
Manchester was there’s to rule,
But they found to their despair,
That the Red flag was still there.

We’ll never die, we’ll never die,
We’ll never die, we’ll never die,
We’ll keep the Red flag flying high,
‘Cos Man United will never die.

The Football League should listen well,
Of what United have to tell,
Macari, Doc and Sammy Mac,
Division One we’re coming back.

We’ll never die, we’ll never die,
We’ll never die, we’ll never die,
We’ll keep the Red flag flying high,
‘Cos Man United will never die.

So when you’re down and feeling blue,
Because we’re in Division Two,
Don’t you fret and don’t you cry,
We’ll keep the Red flag flying high.

We’ll never die, we’ll never die,
We’ll never die, we’ll never die,
We’ll keep the Red flag flying high,
‘Cos Man United will never die.

WALKING DOWN THE WARWICK ROAD

Sang som synges til stadighet.

Melodi: Blaydon RacesOh, my lads,You should’ve seen us coming,
The fastest team in the land,Just to see us running,
All the lads and lasses,With smiles upon their faces,
Walking down the Warwick Road,To see Matt Busby’s Aces.Oh, my lads,You should’ve seen us coming,
Passing teams in the league,Just as they were winning,
All the lads and lasses,With smiles upon their faces,
Walking down the Warwick Road,To see Matt Busby’s Aces.

WE ARE THE BUSBY BOYS

Whether we’re across the sea,
Or whether we’re at home,
It matters not we follow,
To all corners of the globe,
We wear the colours proudly,
The black, the white, the red,
We will follow United.Hello, Hello, we are the Busby Boys,
Hello, Hello, we are the Busby Boys,
And if you are a City fan,
Surrender or you’ll die,
We will follow United. And now we’re back in Europe,
The feeling’s f*cking great,
We’ll try to emulate that team,
Of 1968,
We’ll win the Cup, have no fear,
And then we’ll drink your beer,
And we will follow United…

WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED

We shall not, we shall not be moved,
We shall not, we shall not be moved,
Just like the team that’s gonna win the FA Cup (again)
We shall not be moved. We shall not, we shall not be moved,
We shall not, we shall not be moved,
Just like the team that’s gonna win the Football League (again)
We shall not be moved. We shall not, we shall not be moved,
We shall not, we shall not be moved,
Just like the team that’s gonna win the European Cup (again)
We shall not be moved.

WE’RE ON THE MARCH…

Melodi: We all follow Man. UnitedWe’re on the march with Fergie’s army,
We’re all going to Wembley,
And we’ll really shake them up,
When we win the F.A. Cup,
‘Cos United are the greatest football team.

WHEN THE REDS GO MARCHING IN

Oh when the Reds,
Go marching in,
Oh when the Reds go marching in,
I want to be in that number,
When the Reds go marching in…

WHO’S THAT TEAM?

Melodi: We all follow Man. UnitedWho’s that team we call United,
Who’s that team we all adore,
They’re the boys in Red & White,
And they fight with all their might,
And they’re going to show the bastards how to score.Bring on your Sunderland and Arsenal,
Bring on Spaniards by the score,
Barcelona, Real Madrid,
They will make a gallant bit,
But United are the greatest team of all.Who’s that Knocking on the window,
Who’s that Knocking on the door,
It’s Joe Mercer and his mates,
Eating Turkey off their plates,
‘Cos they can’t get in to Europe any more.
We are the people,
Who sing of victory,
Of games that brought us glory,
From Newcastle to Torquay,
Where sixty thousand voices,
Roar us on to victory,
We will follow United,

(REFRENG:

Hello, Hello, we are the Busby Boys,
Hello, Hello, we are the Busby Boys,
And if you are a City fan,
Surrender or you’ll die,
We all follow United.
